Implementation Progress

The government will amend environmental and petroleum legislation to ensure decision makers take the principle of ecologically sustainable development into account when deciding whether or not an activity should proceed.  This recommendation will be completed in conjunction with Recommendation 14.2 and 14.10.

The Petroleum (Environment) Regulations already have provisions for considering ecologically sustainable development.
