Implementation

Petroleum (Environment) Regulations 2016 were amended on 19 December 2018 to meet the requirements of this recommendation.

All draft environment management plans (EMPs) seeking Minister's consideration for drilling of petroleum wells and hydraulic fracturing activities must be advertised for a 28-day public comment period; comments received must be published online; and the Minister must take into account all comments received before making a decision on the draft EMP.
