Implementation progress

The Government is considering the development of a regulatory model that will facilitate a ‘high compliance culture’ within the on-shore gas industry and therefore support a tiered approach to regulation, at such time that the NT has a more mature gas industry. In the interim the NT Government has determined that all operators will require a high level of monitoring by the regulator for at least five years following the recommencement of unconventional gas activity in February 2019.
